Book Marketing and Selling
Selling
Our website (www.ecademy-press.com) provides a selling channel and our books appear online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Blackwells, Foyles and many other sites. For example Book Butler lists the online outlets selling our book BusinessWise.
All of our books are available to order through bookshops worldwide and many are stocked by Waterstones.
Buying Books for your own resale
For books that you order for resale or giveaways to clients, friends and family, we will quote you a very favourable author price, substantially below the retail price and allowing you to make a margin on selling the book.
We also offer volume discounts for orders of 50 or more copies of your book in one delivery to one location. Please ask for details.
Marketing
Except as set out below, you are responsible as author for the marketing of your book. We are very happy to provide support for your efforts where we can, we want you to do well and sell lots of books.
Our own marketing and PR efforts are aimed at creating an awareness of Ecademy Press both as a publisher and as a bookseller. Authors will benefit from this increased awareness and from higher levels of visit to the Ecademy Press site.
We maintain a blog on site (link) and a monthly newsletter is forwarded to our mailing list. We will be running campaigns to increase this mailing list during late 2008 and early 2009. We will be appointing a person to look after the blog and newsletter and to make both more regular and better targeted.
News items from authors can be included in the blog and newsletter, in fact, we welcome them. Send the text in Word format and any associated images as jpeg files. Send to andy@ecademy-press.com.
We will also market your book on business social network Ecademy and on other social media.
Authors can purchase further PR services from our recommended source (or their own choice of agency) and we will support those efforts fully.
We can also introduce you to marketing expertise (in the UK and the USA ) who can help you to maximise your sales.
We have had some successful viral book launches (and some less so). The key to a successful launch is to be well prepared, have a targeted but large audience, write a compelling email invitation and keep on top of the process with reminders and updates (a blog is useful for this). Co-founder and Director Mindy Gibbins-Klein is an expert in this approach and can give you valuable tips and approaches. Plan well ahead – launches take time and effort to organise.
