Publication Process

Ecademy Press is an independent publisher and we involve you as the author at every stage of the book production process.

All our books are printed on demand and produced in paperback in black and white. There is an option for hardback if required at an extra charge.

The production process takes around 12 weeks so we need to know your availability during this period and if you have any launch date planned. Before work can start on your book we need to receive your signed contract with your choice of package, your payment and your final edited manuscript.

We allocate a designer to your book. The designer will:

  • discuss the design of your book in terms of book size (a size chart will be sent to you), paper colour (white or creme), font, chapter headings, page headings, numbers, illustrations etc.
  • discuss the design for the cover (which may be with a different designer). For the cover we require some content for the back page of around 200 to 300 words. This is an ideal opportunity to include testimonials/ endorsements for your work.

The designers will stay in contact with you as the book progresses. You will be asked to proof read the document either chapter by chapter or at the end according to your preferences. Interim proofs are produced using Adobe PDF files.

Once you have proof read and agreed the final design for the book and cover you will need to sign off the PDF proofs. You can choose to view these proofs in a ‘two page continuous’ mode which will give you an understanding of how they will look in the final book. You can select this in Acrobat Reader in the View menu option.

Please be sure that you have no more corrections at this stage as to make corrections later will incur extra work for which there will be an additional charge.

After sign off we will upload the book to the printer to generate a print proof. This will be exactly as the book will look when it is published. You will be asked to sign off the proof and then the book will be published.
